We can't chose who is a Democrat but we can sure 'nough insist on ethical behavior. This should be pretty interesting. When you look around our little Hooterville, you see pretty quickly that anything goes here. I mean I have seen better butler buildings than some of the thrown up trash they are putting up around here. Everytime I pass that wall next to those red brick buildings on King Street I can't believe the horrible workmanship. The wall is crooked--it's not even straight. And of course our cheese box with a clock is famous. And now highrises in H'ville--what are we thinking?greengalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17657975566069356617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15603913.post-1133523409775216572005-12-02T06:36:00.000-05:002005-12-02T06:36:00.000-05:00O'Cain is a democrat. About our poor courthouse--we could have had a real jewel, but we are going to be handed a cubic zirconium instead. You have to wonder if anyone read that article in Sunday's paper by David Kahler. Pretty impressive. But sad at the same time. There you have what should have been, and we are stuck with what will be. I honestly don't believe that would have happened if Democrats were on the board. Now, I'm worried about Newman. Everybody I know who voted for him expected him to bring back green to the city. Now, he is supporting a condo on steroids that will allow its supporters to flaunt the existing zoning laws. But then that is pretty par for H'ville. There is one set of zoning laws for developers and another for everybody else. Can you believe that O'Cain knew about it, works for the project and didn't bother to tell anyone? You talk about nerve--I was riding down King Street and there was a big banner saying that 30% of them were already sold. 30% are sold and it hasn't passed City Council? BTW, does anybody know--Is O'Cain a repub?greengalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17657975566069356617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15603913.post-1133148315528397022005-11-27T22:25:00.000-05:002005-11-27T22:25:00.000-05:00Ahh I MISS cooking for Thanksgiving. While I have not seen anyone scraping off bumper stickers off cars yet...LOL, (but there is still hope), I have noticed both Senate and House Repubs on the warpath too. It must be funneling down the pipeline.

As a reformed and recovering Republican myself, I know I was pushed over the edge in 2000 - actually in 1990.I proudly voted for Kerry & Edwards in 2004 and have now become a comitted and involved Democrat.DemocratBloggerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05830495049991986931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15603913.post-1133147685152548892005-11-27T22:14:00.000-05:002005-11-27T22:14:00.000-05:00My eyes turn Red democrat gal about our precious c...My eyes turn Red democrat gal about our precious courthouse and the lackadaisical way it's being handled. Well at least they are getting to the dome. I miss music on Main St. in front of the courthouse in the summer months! Most of all, its pristine beauty and wonderful architecture that is viewed by every tourist who visits here. I think that Eva Ritchey our wonderful chair of the Henderson County Democratic Party has helped in achieving the momentous task of getting city planners off their duffs and busy with the domeā¦.Hooray!DemocratBloggerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05830495049991986931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15603913.post-1132939507671178942005-11-25T12:25:00.000-05:002005-11-25T12:25:00.000-05:00Yes. Plus I don't have to cook for days afterwards.

I've only been here a short while but it is pretty clear to me that this whole county is run by repubs and that is a huge problem. It's a one party monarchy and they are definitely the party of "no." No cable, no recycling, no competition, no livable wages, nothing for young people, no, no, no.

I guess the Courthouse is a lost cause--if you aren't in that elite group of 5 repubs who are deciding what they want it to be--tough. Interesting isn't it? The one building that really is the "people's house" isn't. I guess it will just be one big glorious monument to their egos. I wonder how big the names on the plaques will be? I watched the meeting on TV one night. What a joke. Did you see that one women admitting that she voted for the orginal plan but now can't remember why? And the older fellow, Jones--does he just go along with anything? And the other guy, his whole point seemed more to be "Don't ruin my party" than what was good for the Courthouse. Whichever way the wind blows, that's the way they blow. Do you think we will ever get any Dems elected? Lord, we need some.Democrat galhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15588811207970923667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15603913.post-1132716914328885112005-11-22T22:35:00.000-05:002005-11-22T22:35:00.000-05:00Sorry, it's taken me so long to get back. I love it here and would do anything I could to keep it beautiful. The Courthouse? Well, it seems pretty simple to me--the commissioners here don't seem to have too much respect for anyone but their own ideas. It amazes me that such an important project has so few people interested in supporting the best possible plan. How do you get away with having an unlicensed architect and no one in town seems to care? Are you cooking for Thanksgiving?greengalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01357237936659560148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15603913.post-1132284987364886512005-11-17T22:36:00.000-05:002005-11-17T22:36:00.000-05:00Just another thought. Personally I'm just tired of the self righteous moralizing. They talk compassion but look at their policies.
